Types of Braces

Metal Braces

metal_color.pngMetal braces are made of high-quality, durable stainless steel. They are the most common type of braces. The brackets, which are bonded to the front of each tooth, are connected by the archwire, which helps guide the teeth into the correct positions. Today's metal braces are smaller, more comfortable and more attractive.

Ceramic Braces

They are most popular with adult patients due to their cosmetic appeal. The only drawbacks to ceramic brackets are that they are more fragile, and the elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits.

Self-ligating Braces

Self-ligating braces offer several benefits for patients. They have a self-ligation technique and use lighter wires and lower-friction brackets to move teeth while resulting in faster treatment times due to the slide mechanism; strong, mechanical base bonding; and solid walls structured to control tooth movement with speed and efficiency. In addition to greater comfort, self-ligating braces make it easier to maintain good hygiene because they are easier to keep clean. This contributes to greater health, happiness and physical attractiveness for the duration of treatment.

Mini-Twin Braces

The mini-twin bracket has a mesh bonding base that allows it to curve, more accurately conforming to the tooth. Over the course of the treatment, these braces need fewer archwires than standard brackets, which increases overall patient comfort during treatment.

Many patients enjoy mini-twin braces’ smaller, more compact size, which enables it to be less noticeable, but not less effective. While its profile is up to 30% smaller than its competition, it maintains the standard size for its bracket slots, which enables it to maintain the stability and control so important to the treatment process.

The size and the structure create an aesthetically pleasing effect while the added comfort and basic efficiency of the appliance make it a good choice for most patients.
